Bonyad Eastern railway company (Bonrail) and German State Railway, have signed a MoU for technical and financial cooperation on 20 May 2017 in Tehran.
This MoU was sealed on the last day of RailExpo, the 5th International Exhibition of Rail Transportation, Related Industries & Equipment, which was held in Tehran International Permanent Fairground on 15 – 18 May 2017.
The 5th Iran RailExpo, hosted by the Iranian capital of Tehran, with participation of 160 local and 130 foreign companies from 16 countries, has marked the second largest rail exhibition in the world.
According to Alireza Sheikh Taheri, Managing Director of Bonyad Eastern railway company, Deutsche Bahn, Germany’s state-owned railway and Bonyad Eastern railway company, previously signed an agreement for the purpose of enhancing the quality of railway services in Iran. Since Germans have been satisfied with the contract, they created a proposal for the memorandum of technical and financial cooperation in railway industry which was signed today.
As per the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Germany’s state-owned railway will provide Bonrail with range of consultancy services on technical, financial and infrastructure fields. Also, Bonyad Eastern Railway Co. (Bonrail), will gain benefits of cooperation with Deutsche Bahn railway company.
Bonyad Eastern Railway Co. is a subsidiary of Bonyad Mostazafan Organization and first private passenger train company in Iran. It was registered in 1985 and launched with 10 passenger coaches.
Currently, the Bonrail owns a rolling stock of 128 passenger coaches which transfer passengers in various routes such as:
· Tehran – Mashhad
· Tehran – Bandar Abbas
· Tehran – Kerman
· Kerman – Mashhad
· Qazvin – Karaj – Mashhad
· Qom – Mashhad
· Malayer – Arak – Mashhad
· Tabas – Mashhad
